The Road of Brain Training
ADHD Brain Training Roads Lead to New, Mentally Stimulating and Increasingly Challenging GamesBrain Training Forms New Connections in the Brain that Transfer and Act as a Spring Board to Further Accomplishments
Brain training targets specific mental skills such as working memory, focus, impulse control, thinking, listening, problem solving and information processing efficiency. These skills provide a strong foundation for learning.
We use combinations of computerized brain training software that kids think are video games. In addition to being fun, they are mentally stimulating, increasingly challenging and give immediate feedback, which keeps kids with ADHD engaged and focused. These games may target a specific skill (working memory, attention, processing speed) or a combination of skills (processing speed, perception, thinking, fine-motor skills).

A Brain Training Success Story: Anthony the Brain Training Maven
“In 4th grade Anthony took hours to complete homework because he couldn’t focus,” reported his mother. He had great difficulty understanding spoken directions and his handwriting was poor. Math, problem solving and reading skills were above average but he lacked self-discipline and confidence. Although intelligence was above average, both working memory and processing speeds needed help.
The 5 Safe Roads Program targeted three weak areas (attention, working memory and processing speed) and four strengths (reading, problem solving, computer skills and science). 5 Roads Training
Anthony did targeted brain training exercises at home 30 minutes/day, four times a week and brain training exercises weekly at Sparks of Genius for 8 months. This included art and drawing projects, science experiments and juggling.
Anthony liked the brain training exercises so much that two years after successfully completing his 5 Safe Roads program he designed a brain training experiment for his middle school science fair.
Gathering confidence, Anthony contacted a popular online brain training company, told them his idea and requested free subscriptions for 20 students. The company granted his request. Anthony designed and ran the brain training experiment by himself. He analyzed the data and presented the results to his science class and the company.
Anthony is now a happy, healthy successful student in 9th grade.

Quote from the Experts: Dr. Sheida Rabipour and Dr. Amir Raz
“With the current credibility crisis surrounding pediatric psychiatry and pharmacotherapeutics, crafting effective drug-free treatment alternatives seems highly relevant.
Current findings, although preliminary, suggest that training options are safe, fun, and provide larger gains for children who suffer from greater cognitive deficits. Combining training with medication, furthermore, appears to produce maximal benefits that exceed behavioral or pharmacological treatments alone. Thus, given extant knowledge about available treatment options, brain training paradigms may be worthy of consideration, especially for populations with specific developmental deficiencies.”
